Background Information:
Canadian CIS Friendship Exchange Society was
founded in 1989 for the purpose of arranging
student exchanges between Canada and the Soviet
Union. Since then, the Society has expanded its
activities to also facilitate the adoption of
orphaned children in the CIS by Canadian parents
and to provide humanitarian aid to orphanages in
Russia and Kazakhstan.
The Society is non-profit (registered in British
Columbia) and non-commercial; all directors and
members volunteer their time and expertise.
