When you return to Canada with your child(ren), Immigration officials at the airport should give you an application(s) for MSP for your child so he/she will receive
a care card. If you do not receive this application at the airport you may obtain the application at the post office or from the MSP web site.
WHAT IF..
I wish to take my child(ren) to the doctor before the Care Card arrives?
Your doctor's office will either bill the visit to the mother's care card number just as a newborn is under a mother's card until his/her card is processed
OR your doctor's office may hold the billing of the visit until the care card arrives. Notify the doctor's office when the card arrives.
-my child requires tests at the Biomedical Office?
You will be billed by Biomedical. Do not pay the bill. When it arrives, call in the Care Card number to the phone number on the billing notice.
-my child requires emergency treatment at the hospital?
You will be billed by the hospital. Do not pay the bill. When it arrives, call in the Care Card number to the financial department of the hospital.
